Polish Classes for Heritage Speakers
Learn to actually use the Polish you grew up around 🚀
If Polish was part of your childhood - through family, grandparents, or a home where it was spoken - but you never learned it properly, this course is for you. Whether you understand a lot and freeze up when you try to speak, or only know words and phrases from home, we'll build real, confident Polish from where you actually are.
Why a Heritage Speaker Group?
Heritage speakers learn Polish differently - and face their own set of challenges:
You'll learn Polish faster because:
the sounds and rhythm already feel familiar
words and phrases are already sitting in your memory
you have a personal connection to the language that keeps you motivated
…but you can also get stuck because:
you understand more than you can say
what you know sounds like a child's Polish, not an adult's
you may have never learnt writing or reading Polish before
habits picked up early can be hard to unlearn
This course solves that.
Agnieszka knows exactly where heritage speakers get stuck - and how to guide you so you build confident, adult Polish instead of staying at "kitchen Polish."
How the Course Works
📝 1. Fill out a short form
Tell us your availability, your experience with Polish so far, and what you're hoping to get out of the course.
📞 2. Book your free placement call
Based on your form, you'll be matched with a teacher who assesses your level together with you on a short call. No cost, no commitment yet.
👥 3. Get placed in the right group, then confirm and pay
Once you're placed in a group at your level, you confirm your spot and pay to register. You choose one semester (36 classes) or two (72 classes).
💻 4. Meet twice a week on Zoom
Semester 1 runs September 28th to February 2027. If you sign up for two semesters, Semester 2 follows straight after, running February to June/July 2027. Small groups mean real speaking time, not just listening.
🗣️ 5. Build real speaking confidence
Grammar, vocabulary, and conversation, taught step by step, with speaking practice built into every class.

Level set after placement calls
The proficiency level of heritage speakers is hard to assess upfront. Some people might read well but freeze up speaking, or understand everything and write nothing - it depends on the person. We'll get a feel for where participants are during placement calls and set the level and learning plan for the group from there.

When you register for a course, the first step is a short placement call with one of our teachers.
They’ll listen to your needs, check your level, and help you join the right group before the course begins. -
We start with more English, especially at A0, then shift into Polish as soon as you're ready for it. Your teacher will always be able to support you in English when it genuinely helps, but the goal is to teach as much as possible in Polish, when you don’t need English anymore.
-

Most groups run with 6 students. A group needs at least 4 to start, and we'll occasionally go up to 8 if we think an extra person is a good match for that group's level and pace.
-
We open a group if there are at least 4 students, with a maximum of 8.
If fewer than 4 people sign up for this course, we can’t open the group and anyone who paid will receive a full refund.

All lessons take place live on Zoom. In between we’ll use emails for communicating with our participants, and folders on Google Drive to share materials from the classes with you.
